Base layer and transition layer welding
Mar 16, 2018

Base layer welding: The welding bead of the base layer must not reach the cladding layer, if the welding starts from the base layer, the distance between the welding bead and the cladding interface should be kept to 1-2mm, the weld reinforcement should meet the relative standards. Pre-heating treatment may be necessary depending on the conditions such as plate thickness, steel grade and structural factors.

Transition layer welding: when welding the transition layer, it’s important to keep the penetration ratio of the base material as low as possible without compromising the merging quality. It’s recommended to use electrodes of smaller diameter and weld under lower voltage. The thickness of the transition layer must be above 2mm.
